Descripció
Sumari:The main objective of this research project was to characterize the profile of the current tourist who frequents the province of Tungurahua. To achieve the objective, a descriptive research methodology was implemented. The survey technique was used both to collect data and to analyze the samples. In the initial phase of the project, a bibliographic review was carried out, mainly on the website of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), in order to select 10 tourist destinations in the aforementioned province, such as the city of Baños de Agua Santa, waterfall Mantos de la novia, Termas del Salado, Mirador de la Cruz de Bellavista, Pailón del Diablo waterfall, among others. The selection was based on considerations such as the hierarchy level of the tourist attractions by the visitors and the number of visits to them. The characterization of the tourist profile was carried out through the application of 385 surveys. The results indicate that 50% of those surveyed are Ecuadorian citizens, aged between 35 and 65 years. Additionally, 12% reside in Ambato and Quito respectively. Regarding gender distribution, 60% are women and 40% men. In terms of employment status, 50% are private employees. 53% of tourists prefer to travel with their family. Regarding spending, 48% have a budget of approximately 100 US dollars. Finally, in relation to the reason for traveling, 41% prefer to travel for relaxation. With all this information collected, a newsletter was also designed, which covers the results obtained during the investigation. Fundamental to its design was the use of two editing software, Illustrator and Freepik, with which the front and back covers, characteristics of the province, information content, methodology, conclusions and recommendations were designed. At the end of this study, the application of new conservation strategies for the tourist resource in the province of Tungurahua is recommended.
