Summary:The present investigation allowed to establish the physical mechanic characteristics of bamboo, starting from the identification of different cane especies for construction, allowing to know the bearing, stetical and economic advantages of guadua cane in its natural state, after identifying specific species to build up different structures on construction. Distinct methodologies were developed, which allowed the realization of a traction essay, the same that permitted to measure the resistance of two different species of bambu (Colombian Guadua – Guadua Brava), this data was used for the future proposal of new construction alternatives, for easy application in the construction industrialization, applying as an urgent answer the necessary of healthy and worthy housing for plenty of people who lack them. From the outcome of this investigation, relevant data was obtained about bambo´s viabilty (Guadua Cane) regard to construction, as it showed it was more resistant than other woods used for diverse constructive activities, providing creative architectural desings solutions in the future, giving a unique response that attends and adapts to the requirements of a contemporary thinking, trying to make it possible to dissmis other people´s ideas about a “ non suitable material for construction.
