Shrnutí:This research study was carried out at the Technical University of Cotopaxi - Salache Campus, Eloy Alfaro Parish, Latacunga Canton, Cotopaxi Province, which is located at an altitude of 2750 meters above sea level with a variable temperature of 10°C to 24°C. The general objective is to evaluate the improved varieties of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) under the conditions of the researched field, with scientific objectives such as: determining the best yield and the variety best adapted to the conditions of the area. The experimental design was a completely randomized block design with 18 treatments and three replications. The parameters established for the evaluation are based on Manual No. 111 of Cereal Evaluation and Selection Parameters published by the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIAP). The variables evaluated were: percent emergence, plant vigor, growth habit, days to heading, plant height, type of straw, ear size, number and weight of grains per ear, yield, hectoliter weight, 100-grain weight, grain quality, and reaction to diseases. Therefore, it was evaluated with the Zadoks scales. For the data analysis, a statistical analysis of normality (Kolmogorov) was performed, in the sources of variation that indicated statistical significance a Tukey test at 5% was performed, with the data obtained it was determined that all treatments are adaptable to the field conditions under study; the treatment with the best adaptability to the agroecological conditions was the Clipper variety, and the one with the best grain yield was INIAP-Alfa 2021 being superior with 11371 kg ha-1 indicating that this variety has perspectives to continue with the evaluation in conditions different from those of the Salache Academic Experimentation Center (Ceasa).
