Caracterización socio económica y productiva de la parroquia Ignacio Flores del cantón Latacunga, provincia de Cotopaxi 2022.

The purpose of this research was to carry out a social, economic and productive characterization of the Ignacio Flores parish of Latacunga county, province of Cotopaxi. In the absence of information that allows to identify in a concrete way the social, economic and productive characteristics of the inhabitants of the parish, this research seeks to find a diagnosis of the social-demographic, productive-organizational, economic and service characteristics of the different inhabitants, with the purpose of knowing their needs and projections that they have as a parish. Within the investigation, the survey tool was used, which has a descriptive, qualitative and quantitative character, structured with 63 questions that covered social characteristics referring to: age, sex, ethnicity, level of education, type of housing, family members, use of the media, insecurity. The economic characteristics included questions related to: type of income and services available in the sector. Finally, in the productive characterization, we delimited issues such as: productive area tenure, availability of irrigation, sale of products produced, milk production, type of authorities that contribute to the sector. In the present investigation, a population sampling of 441 people was used, of which 137 correspond to the rural sector and 304 to the urban sector in the parish of Ignacio Flores. These surveys were carried out with the help of the Kobotoolbox application, a free software designed for the collection of information in the field that allows data collection without the need to be connected to an internet network. The following data was obtained: within the social-demographic characterization, the ages of the respondents are located, where 28% are between 27 and 36 years old in the urban sector compared to the rural sector with 25% who are between 36 and 46 years old, in such a way that it was possible to identify that the largest number of respondents corresponds to women with 52% in the rural sector and 54% in the urban sector. It is also evident that the formal education of those surveyed in the rural sector is primary education (36%) and secondary education (40%) in the urban sector. In reference to the economic and service characterization; it is evident that the respondents have more income from their own businesses with 53% in the rural sector and 46% in the urban sector, in such a way that the economic activity they manage is agriculture with 46% in the rural sector and 18% in the urban sector. Likewise, 88% of the water for consumption is provided by the municipality in the urban sector, compared to 53% in the rural sector, which is provided by the water board. Lastly, the organizational and productive characterization of the research shows that 64% of the rural sector has land for agricultural production, compared to 80% in the urban sector, which indicates that they do not have areas for agricultural production.
