Riassunto:The aim of this research was to design a proposal for a solid waste integral management system in Santa Cruz canton of Galapagos province, considered as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, annually receives 360,000 tourists both national and foreign, by 2018 the population was 16.682, the large number of people living on the island has caused negative environmental impacts due to the generation of solid waste. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, a bibliographic, field and descriptive research methodology was established, the observation and survey techniques were used; composed of 16 questions that allowed to obtain qualitative-quantitative value that allowed to characterize the solid waste by parish, type of waste and generation amount kg per capita / day. The results showed that each person per day is generating an average of 0.78 kg of solid waste, with the Bellavista parish being the one with the most solid waste per capita, with 0.87 kg / day, the most wasteful type being organic waste, on average, 0.45 Kg / day per person is generated. The proposal of the integral solid waste management system was framed in the methodology PHVA (Plan, Do, Act, Verify), through environmental regulation ISO 14000, 5 programs were designed: 1) Reduction of solid waste, 2) Implementation of containers , 3) Availability of waste collection, 4) Diagnosis of Fabricio Valverde recycling center, and 5) Training to the community. The objective of this system is to reduce waste generation from 0.78 kg to 0.60 kg by training the community and strengthening the Fabricio Valverde recycling center to increase the amount of processed and recycled waste.
