Adicionar Tag | Resumo: | Dry eye syndrome is a multifactorial disease very frequent in ophthalmological medical consultation at 30%. Pathology caused by reduction in the amount or quality of tears, and produces discomfort to workers in the area spinning from textile company Vicunha S.A , with continued visits to company’s physician. . This study evaluates the incidence of Dry Eye Syndrome applying the test of McMonnies, questionnaire based on the multiple symptoms associated to this disease, and some etiologic agents that may be related, with 18% of positive cases of dry eye syndrome, p <0.05 , X2 = 27.37 , regarding the influence of cotton dust in the etiology of dry eye . In addition, an evidentiary study, objective and specialize in situ , the Schirmer test to evaluate the presence or absence of Dry Eye Syndrome, 56% of staff studied tested was positive and 44% negative, 50 women were evaluated and 150 men , with a prevalence in relation to sex 80% of women were affected and 48 % of men, data that correlate with other scientific studies , p < 0.05, X2 = 186, statistical analysis checks the positive hypothesis in which the dry eye syndrome is caused by exposure to cotton dust . |
