Riassunto:Nowadays, it has been observed that the incorrect practice of reading habits influences the learning of children, considering that reading is the appropriate medium for oral communication; that is why the fundamental objective of this research was to diagnose how the reading habits affect the learning of students of "Chipe - Hamburgo" Educative Unit during the period 2016-2017, this purpose emerged as a response to a problem that has become chronic in all educational institutions in the country and in particular in the institution under study, where the causes of this problem is a huge deficit of text comprehension linked with the use of methods and inadequate pedagogical strategies that have induced a loss in the academic level having consequences on learning and social relationships among children. The research work was descriptive and based on the application of analytical, synthetic, historical, dialectical methods; which allowed the development of the theoretical framework together with the use of information gathering techniques such as interview, survey and observation, with their instruments the guide of questions, the questionnaire and the direct observation form, which were applird to the director, teachers and children who are the objects of research. The results obtained were analyzed and presented through statistical diagrams, which showed the existing shortcomings about the bad use of reading habits, these weaknesses must be overcome through the implementation of methodological strategies to effectively develop reading comprehension in children from 10 years old, which will surely achieve a social impact in the field of education, benefiting all members of the educational community and thus avoid problems in future generations.
