Sumari:The innocuousness and healthiness of products of animal origin is very important to ensure consumer health and guarantee official responsibility in this field. For this reason, veterinary inspection and hygiene in all slaughterhouses are essential to achieve this aim. Therefore, it was determined the "incidence of the main macroscopic hepatic alterations in cattle slaughtered in the technological slaughterhouse of the Saquisili canton". With the purpose of determining the hepatic alterations considering gender and origin of the animals and to identify the different macroscopic alterations presented by the livers during the post-mortem inspection, as well as to estimate the economic loss due to the seizure of this organ. For the study, a quantitative method was improved because it has been verified the incidence of macroscopic changes in the liver; therefore, the technique applied was direct observation. In order to present the incidence results, descriptive statistics were obtained, while the Chi-square statistical test was used to determine the relationship of risk factors with hepatic alterations. The total number of animals that entered the abattoir center for slaughtering between July 1, 2022 and August 1, 2022 was sampled. The origin and gender of the animals were also determined. The data were obtained from 1275 bovines of which 75 were confiscated due to hepatic alterations, and are divided into: 29 bovines with abscesses (38.67%), 23 cases with distomatosis (30.67%), 17 with cirrhosis (26.67%), 2 with adhesions (2.67%), 2 with ecchymosis (2.67%), 1 with fibrosis (1.33), 1 with hydatidosis (1.33%). There is a moderate rate of hepatic pathologies, which has repercussions on economic losses directly to the introducers, as well as indirectly for the producers.
