| Zusammenfassung: | The research project aimed to optimize the wastewater treatment plant at the CEASA campus of the Technical University of Cotopaxi to improve existing treatment processes. For this, an information survey was carried out to obtain data on flow rate, COD, pH, Temperature, Turbidity, 〖BOD〗_5, ST, TSS, nitrites, nitrates and fecal coliforms. In collecting information, composite water samples were taken, collected in the inspection box located at the entrance to the CEASA campus for their respective analysis in the laboratory. Obtaining an average flow rate of 0.00037 m^3/s, a COD of 615 mg/L, a pH of 8.91, a temperature of 21.60 °C, a turbidity of 51.67 NTU, a 〖BOD〗 _5 of 413.3 mg/L, ST of 2394.67 mg/L, TSS of 1034.67 mg/L, nitrites of 0.15 mg/L, nitrates of 21.93 mg/L and fecal coliforms of 2958, 33 MPN/100ml. To optimize the treatment plant, the processes were sized using design criteria and design manuals. Once the calculations were carried out, the dimensions of the pretreatment were obtained, which consists of an entrance channel with a height of 0.34 m and a width of 0.5 m, two manual cleaning grates, a fine one with 45 bars with a thickness of 0.006 m and a spacing between bars of 0.005 m, a median of 17 bars with a thickness of 0.013 m and a spacing between bars of 0.015 m, a sand trap with a divergence angle of 12.5°, a sedimentation velocity of 0. 10 m/s, a depth of 0.40 m, a width of 0.6 m and a length of 6 m, and a Parshall trough sized with a throat width of 3 inches. While for the primary treatment, a primary settler was sized with a volume of 39.6 m^3, a speed of 0.89 m/s, a surface area of 13.2 m^2, a height of 3 m, a width of 3 m, and a length of 4 m, with the aforementioned values, the design of the wastewater treatment plant was carried out in the AutoCAD software. Finally, a monitoring and maintenance guide was proposed to guarantee the correct functioning of the wastewater treatment plant on the CEASA campus. |
