Beskrivelse
Summary:The research presented at this report is focused on derivation of economic milk values production of cattle in Toacaso parish, using profit functions, for which it is presented, first, aspects to take into account of the cattle, and the characteristics required to be considered a milk producer, within the points to consider are: breed that has a percentage of 95% half-breed/creole, 4.2% Holstein Friesian and 0.8% Brown Swiss, since they define their characteristics as adaptability to the environment, its reproductive capacity and thein productive capacity. Although there are several breeds of cattle in Ecuador, these are not abundant, which is due to their high reproduction costs and maintenance, which is why producers and community members opt for raising half-breed-criollo cattle and, therefore, it is considered local. Toacaso parish is distinguished for haring mostly milk producers, since its cows have reached an average of 10.5 liters of milk per day, which places them well above the national average of 6 liters per day. Nevertheless, it can be improved because there is a very high population of dairy cattle with 39.6% and it is recommended to carry out selection studies for reproductive and productive improvement of animals, taking care their high margin of milk production and favoring adaptation to environment in which animals will develop.
