סיכום:The purpose of this work was to determine the application of the survey in the teaching-learning process through the application of surveys to elementary students. The diagnostic problem is that students have difficulties to understand the message of the readings, sequence of activities and make judgments about the readings made. For this research, the qualitative-quantitative approach was applied with descriptive, bibliographical and field methods to help collect real data with the use of instruments such as interviews, surveys and the application of a reading test. The results of the interview showed that reading comprehension is fundamental for the learning of the different basic areas of study in Language and Literature and Mathematics because reading is present in all forms of learning. The survey and the exam applied that the students have a low level of comprehension and they read when completing tasks related to reading, causing their learning not to be excellent. It is concluded that students do not have reading habits and therefore affect their learning. In the same way, teachers develop reading activities in a rote way and do not learn strategies focused on the critical development of thought. It is recommended that active strategies be analyzed to develop students' level of reading comprehension and critical thinking.
