| Résumé: | Due to the importance llamas have at local, national, and global levels as far as their feeding and usage as a species; itwas considered to evaluate the testicular morphometry and spermatic concentration by age (2-4 and 4-6 years of age) of llamas, Lama glama, in the biotechnology laboratory of the Technical University of Cotopaxy School of Veterinary Medicine. The prime age and testicular morphometry were taken into account in order to optimize the reproductive stage of male llamas. This research project utilized 20 male llamas grouped into two age groups. Group A with 10 animals between the ages of 2 to 4 years, and Group B with 10 animals between the ages of 4 to 6 years. Ejaculate samples of each individual were analyzed for seminal variables of: testicular morphometry, testicular shape, mating time, volume of ejaculate, pH, color, fibrosity, spermatic concentration, general and individual motility, and viability (percentage of live and dead sperm). Data obtained was averaged in each group and goes as follows.... |
