| Riassunto: | The present investigation in order to study the social and commercial aspects that characterize the production system of this project was carried out in the neighborhood: Rumipamba la Universidad, with the objective of characterizing and evaluating the sustainability of 18 families that produce tomato kidneys (Solanum lycopersicum). In the agricultural activity as the main source of economic income of the families, 50% of the producers have an average of 60 to 100 boxes per week which are sold in the wholesale markets having a variable price between 6 to 12 dollars per box. In the social area, it was determined that there is a low level of university education, another factor is that the tomato kidney monoculture is carried out, therefore 100% of the farmers are dependent on the use of agrochemical products to increase productivity. The evaluation of sustainability of the 18 families surveyed determined a value of 3.19 in the economic dimension, in the environmental dimension, the value of 2.04, in the Socio-Cultural dimension the value of 2.37drindanodes a general average of sustainability of 2.50 which indicates that the production system is sustainable. |
