| Резюме: | Excessive use of the computer may be linked to a development of increased intraocular pressure; therefore, it can produce glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness in the world, according to World Health Organization. The objective of this research was to determine the impact of an increase in intraocular pressure in different refractive patients from age 22 to 35 in Óptica Ambato. Conducting a descripted survey of 144 people between women and men in the population of Optica Ambato, in which their eyes where checked by an optometrist and ophthalmologic evaluation, consisted in: visual acuity, refractive status, assessment anterior segment, posterior segment and intraocular pressure, also a survey on the use of computers was to determine the frequency of its use. Among main results, its being found that patients who used computer were more likely to present myopic astigmatism, simple astigmatism and myopia. It was concluded that about 4% showed symptoms of increased intraocular pressure so it is believed that there is a relationship between prolonged use of computers and increased intraocular pressure, however it is recommended more studies on the subject. A program of promotion and prevention kit visual exercises has being designed for computer user and poses a guide for developing an occupational health visual examination. |
