Manejo y seguridad en los procesos experimentales en los laboratorios de la carrera de Ingeniería Agroindustrial de la Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi en el año 2012 - -2013. Diseño de un manual de bioseguridad para los estudiantes.

The implementation of correct and safe laboratory procedures can prevent accidents and sicknesses caused by ignorance of safety measures. This study examined the reality of these practices within UTC’s Agroindustrial Engineering laboratories. This study consisted of a scientific literature review, descriptive and field research, direct observation, as well as the distribution of surveys to teachers and students. The surveyed population was comprised of 94 informants, of which more than 60% stated that there was no real system of biosafety in the laboratories, as the researchers’ hypothesis had predicted. So, the design of a manual would benefit the entire educational community. It became apparent that the laboratory environment was not safe. There was no consistency in signage, and in the past accidents have occurred and not been recorded. The new manual will provide a set of rules and guidelines that will reduce risks, accidents, and illnesses, before, during and after laboratory tasks.
