| Summary: | This non-probabilistic cross-sectional research was carried out to determine prevalence of Neospora caninum in female cattle in Pangua, Pujilí and Saquisilí cantons, and the associated risk factors. The study was carried out using the ELISA-c method, 270 blood serum samples were collected, obtaining the following results: It was determined that in the three cantons of Pangua, Pujilí and Saquisilí there is presence of Neospora caninum with a total prevalence of 23.33%. The highest number of positive cases was found in Pangua with 44.4%, the second highest was in Saquisili canton with 30.2% of positive cases and the canton with the lowest number of positive cases was Pujili with 25.4%. Similarly, it was identified that the most infestation of female cattle is at 5 years with 30% seropositive for Neosporosis. The breed with the highest prevalence is the Holstein with 61.9% seropositivity in relation to Jersey breed with 12.7% and F1 with a percentage of 25.4%, likewise the percentages of altitude is relative since neosporosis is predisposing at any altitude. By the reproductive method, it is observed a prevalence of 35% of positive cases by Artificial Insemination (AI) and 65% of positive cases by Natural Mounting (NM), with respect to abortions, there was only one cow which was negative for neosporosis. With obtained results it is concluded that the prevalence of this parasite is in force in these cantons, when comparisons with other literatures can present on justificable amounts ranges. |
