Evaluación del potencial turístico en la comunidad Machay, parroquia Río Verde, cantón Baños de Agua Santa, año 2022.

Machay is found to locate into Río Verde parish, via Baños-Puyo, belonging to Baños de Agua Santa Canton, a community, what seeks to improve its life quality, implementing tourism as one local productive matrix activities, nevertheless, its incursion this economic sector has not given them representative benefits for fulfilling said wish, since they do not have previous studies to manage the activity, appropriately, reason which is performed it, empirically, what has led Machay to find itself into its life cycle involvement phase, trying to start the development phase, for that reason, the current project had as purpose to propose strategies focused by improving tourism, performing an "tourism potential assessment", by having as its first aim the Machay actual situation diagnosis and its offer; as a second aim, it was elaborated a demand and competition analysis, such as the Pailón del Diablo, Agoyán and Manto de la Novia, further, to market trends, elements, what after an internal FODA analysis, it was identified, which the main strengths from Machay are the natural resources abundance, little crowded area and community predisposition at working; regarding, weaknesses are the main ones, tourist plant deficit, financing problems, resources trails lack for 90% and tourism promotion lack, giving a 2.54 MEFI weight; while the external analysis determined, what Machay has an opportunities high range as area suitable for promoting tourism new types, the Ecominga Foundation support and its strategic location, while among the threats, the landslides caused by rains, the competition accelerated growth and bad management by authorities represent a problem for the community, reaching a 2.87 total MEFE weight; by placing Machay at a tourism potential medium level; therefore, for third aim, it was proposed strategies in the MAFE matrix, they focused onto "retaining and maintaining" the community within tourism, by managing training into tourism-environmental issues; the maintenance works planning, especially, of trails and signage; a marketing plan elaboration for the appropriate target, what according to trends is inclined towards nature, leisure and relaxation tourism. Through this study, it was identified both positive and negative aspects inside and outside the community that influence demand, by highlighting the proposed strategies development importance.
