| Sumari: | This project deals with the design of an industrial still for the ethyl alcohol distillation process, as raw material the extract of the American agave plant, to reduce the little existing equipment for the distillation process the high costs that its purchase demands. A still design was made considering materials and equipment available in the local market to reduce cost. The research project's objective is to design an industrial still to obtain ethyl alcohol from the ferment obtained from agave Americana. The methodology used for the development of the proposal is the study of the types of industrial stills, suitable materials for their construction, properties, and the distillation process while the technical parameters were dimensioned with the SolidWorks software, which is based on modeling, assembling mechanisms and mechanical parts in 2D, 3D and design drawings. The control parameters of the distillation process and their relationship with the pumping system for recirculation of the liquid within the heat exchanger were analyzed. The results are AISI 304 stainless steel design for a capacity of 320 liters; manufacturing costs $ 3,273.67. In contrast, a machine with similar characteristics and lower capacity on the market costs a third more than the calculated value. |
