Summary:The objective of this research project was to analyze how credit risk affects the liquidity of the financial assets of the Savings and Credit Cooperatives in segments 3 and 4, it was carried out with relevant information provided by financial institutions and the analysis of financial indicators, which helped to know the percentage of risk that can occur within these processes and how it affects liquidity, leaving net losses of the credits or an over-indebtedness in the financial assets.In order to achieve the objectives proposed in the project, the methods for assessing credit risk were analyzed in a better way, identifying each one of the factors that occur within the Cooperatives of the segment 3 and 4, for which the analysis of the structure was taken into credit portfolio, identifying the number of defaulting partners, the portfolio that does not accrue interest and the past due portfolio obtaining the unproductive portfolio which helped determine the level of risk of the total portfolio, result in a high or how risk figure. The direct beneficiaries of our project are the Superintendence of Popular and Solidarity Economy, Savings and Credit Cooperatives, segment 3: Andina Ltda., Crecer Wiñari, Sierra Center, Sumak Kawsay and Vision of the Andes, Credit Union, segment 4: SAC, Unión Mercedaria and Coorcotopaxi of Latacunga canton, potential partners, the community and we as students of the Technical University of Cotopaxi. The observation and the interview to the managers and credit bosses of the financial entities were used as methodology, obtaining accurate and reliable information for the investigation, which helped to quantify the percentage of credit risk in each of the segments.
