Diagnóstico de gestación determinando por palpación rectal y ultrasonografía en alpacas “Vicugna pacos” en el CEASA.

In the present investigation, it was carried out in the facilities of the Salache Experimental Center with the objective of: Diagnosing the gestation determined by rectal palpation and ultrasonography in "Vicugna pacos" alpacas in the CEASA, females (Huacaya) were used to apply two types of methodologies In order to diagnose the gestation of the existing alpacas, it was carried out by the rectal palpation methodology where 5 alpacas positive for pregnancy and 2 alpacas negative for pregnancy were confirmed, however after completing the diagnosis some alpacas fell to the ground due to of pain and stress, but these lifted without difficulty. In the second methodology, ultrasonography was used because it is harmless to the animals, so it could be carried out in a monotonous way. For the diagnosis of pregnancy in female alpacas, the ventral ulna position was placed, avoiding sudden movements when holding the animals. With the use of the Sui ultrasound (sene apogee 330 VnEO) of the UTC veterinary clinic, the check-up was made without causing any damage during the diagnosis, animal welfare was promoted where 7 females tested positive for pregnancy, likewise by this same methodology it was possible to calculate the gestational age based on biparental diameter measurement (DBP) by drawing a longitudinal line of the fetal head from the outer margin of the parental bone to the inner margin of the opposite parental bone a comparison of body conditions between the mother and the child could also be made fetus that allowed us to know that the animals, both mothers and pups, are not in the Ideal weight, so it is necessary to increase the diet during pregnancy, in the same way, supply minerals such as calcium and phosphorus in their daily food.
