Резюме: | The general objective of this work was to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in cattle at the "El Chan" neighborhood in Latacunga to achieve effective sanitary management of the herds and higher production yields, and the specific objectives were to determine the presence of gastrointestinal parasites using the helminth-ovoscopic flotation method, to establish the parasite load in cattle according to the type of parasites: nematodes, cestodes and protozoa and also to evaluate the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites according to sex, age, and altitude. 60 animals taken at random were used; the research tried to determine how many animals had this parasite. Subsequently, the researchers took samples of fresh bovine feces; the samples were obtained directly from the rectum, labeled, and taken to the laboratory, where the samples were processed using the flotation technique. As a result, it was found that there is a 72% presence of gastrointestinal parasites in the "El Chan" neighborhood of Latacunga; in relation to the type of parasites, 66.4% corresponds to the nematode type, taking into account the measured variables, it was found that in males the percentage of positives was 53%, in comparison, 78% was found in females. In the age variable, the highest percentage of positives was in the age group of 2 to 3 years with 73.3%, and in the altitude variable, the range with the highest positivity is 2947-2960 masl with 80.7%. At the end of the study, it was concluded that the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in the "El Chan" neighborhood of Latacunga is 72%, which indicates that it is a high percentage. |
