Riassunto:The physicochemical and microbiological pollution caused by the production of dairy products has negative impacts on the environment, such as soil, air, and water; the water resource is the most affected by the generation of sewage. In this sense, sustainable operations that guarantee the rights of nature and citizens to a healthy environment should be taken into account to reduce pollutants. So, this study was proposed to evaluate an electrocoagulation unit for the reduction of contaminants present in wastewater from the dairy industry; therefore, three specific objectives were determined, starting with the design and construction of an electrocoagulation unit for a reduction of BOD, COD, Total solids, oils, and fats in the wastewater of "Productos Lácteos Marlén" Company, after that the evaluation of the removal percentage of pollutants through the multifactorial experimental design, using statistical software (InfoStat) with the standard deviation, Tukey at 0.05 and lastly the analysis of the costs generated in the process of this method for the removal of the parameters specified above. Finally, it is concluded after having carried out the four treatments that "Productos Lácteos Marlén" Company lacks a water decontamination process; after having obtained the results of the electrocoagulation process, the parameter that had the highest percentage of removal is fats and oils having a minimum value of 75.85% and the highest removal percentage a value of 91.21%.
