| Gaia: | The objective of this research is to observe the existence of hate speech against the LGBTIQ+ community in the Facebook accounts of two print media in Ecuador and its impact on the members of the affected groups. A multi-method approach was followed: quantitatively, the content analysis technique was applied to the comments of the publications on the International Day of LGBITQ+ Pride in the newspaper El Comercio and El Universo; For the qualitative, semi-structured interviews were applied to members of the LGBTIQ+ collective. Among the most relevant results, the predominance of hate expressions based on criticism, mockery, contempt and insults was found, in comparison with the categories threats and in favor that had a low frequency, the category others, is in a medium range of frequency; however, its content consists of phrases that stray from the central line of the topic of the publication. |
