| Riassunto: | This research was carried about establishing the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasitosis in cattle by a quantitative stool study in San Marcos neighborhood, Salcedo canton, Cotopaxi province, in order to improve the small producer’s production on it, which was performed a laboratory analysis on 100 samples, through the procedure of the helminth-ovoscopic method of technical concentration for gastrointestinal parasites study. The design was based on a random sampling, taking into account the category, race and sex of the animals as dependent variables. The samples number in males has been 31 animals, with positive cases of 18 bovines and a prevalence of 58%. The samples number in females has been 69 animals, with positive cases of 38 bovines and a prevalence of 55%. Therefore, in a total number of 100 animals, there were 56 positive cases and a prevalence of 56%. The most prevalent parasite is Trichuris with 17% prevalence, followed by Coccidia with 14% and Moniezias with 10% of the total prevalence. However, a lower prevalence in Ostertagias of 4% of the prevalence is proven. Finally, the results reveal that there is no great parasitic difference according to the distinction of sexes, for which it is recommended that producers carry out a periodic deworming protocol to improve the production of their animals, thus promoting their economic development. |
