The main objective was to diagnose thermal energy losses in the steam generation and transport system. The first step was to calculate the boiler efficiency and pipeline losses due to convection and radiation, according to the ASME PTC 4 - 2008 code and empiric correlations for free external convection flow, respectively. The main energy loss sources were identified and an improvement plan in the energy management was designed as stated in the NTE INEN-ISO 50001:2012, expecting a fuel economy of 1278 gal/year. Also carrying out a financial analysis of the proposal with PRI, VAN and TIR indicators, concluded this project is feasible. |
