Determinación del índice de potencial interpretativo de los recursos en los sitios de excursionismo del cantón La Maná, provincia de Cotopaxi.

This study was carried out in the canton of La Maná, Province of Cotopaxi, to determine the interpretative potential of the natural and cultural resources, applying the respective field data sheet, providing a solution to the main problem, which is the scarce valuation of the resources, due to the lack of information and interest of the urban and rural Decentralized Autonomous Governments (GADS). This research is of a transversal type because some information is collected in a single period of time, with a qualitative approach and descriptive level. The methodology used for the entire research was inductive, descriptive and direct observation. With the help of techniques such as stakeholder mapping, 73 people working in the tourism sector and local people were surveyed. The interpretative potential index (IPI) was then applied using the Kobotoolbox application in the field, to evaluate the resources in 6 defined hiking sites, of which the places with a high IPI (A) were two: the archaeological site Malqui Machay with a score of 28.8 /40 and Sacha Wiwa, with 28.3/40 which shows that these resources have adequate features to be interpreted, the remaining four sites: Balneario el Cacagual, Finca El Tesoro, Cascadas el Guadual and Jardín de los Sueños obtained an IPI of Medium High (mA), resources that have acceptable features to be interpreted. In addition, GPS points were established and with the help of QGIS, maps were defined. Finally, a survey was applied to 385 people using google forms to the groups that like hiking, through social networks; obtaining the following results: in the definition of the target market, the demographic variable, reflects that 100 % corresponds to the Ecuadorian nationality, which reside in the different parishes and parts of the mainly in the canton La Maná, 58.7% corresponds to the female gender and 39.5% belongs to the male gender. In conclusion, it was possible to identify the resources with the greatest potential to be interpreted, thus raising awareness among the authorities, through talks, training, involving the people of each parish in the canton of La Maná, so that they can adapt each site, Similarly, it was found through the surveys carried out by Google Forms, that hikers do visit each site occasionally once a month with a percentage of 62.3% with an average age between 21 and 30 years with a percentage of 58.7% belonging to the female gender of 100% Ecuadorian nationality.
