Description
Summary:A successful exploitation of guinea pigs is based on proper management in different production stages. Regardless of guinea pig breeding systems, the breeding, weaning, breeding and rearing are the most important phases that should be appropriately physiologically knowledgeably applied regarding environmental and technological alternatives adequate about physiological and environmental knowledge. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the size of litters, number of pups at weaning and sexing in guinea pigs for their respective phenotypic characterization and selection. This work has been done in the CEYPSA - Experimental and Production Center Salache. We´ve worked on and identified a population of 250 females, divided into three groups: Group 1 sorrel, sorrel with swirl Group 2 and Group 3 overos without swirl; then placed for identification earrings numbered, and then they grouped the livestock according to phenotypic assessment of its characteristics (coat color, red, and sorrel, with and without swirl) in homogeneous groups.
