要約:This research was conducted in the San Buenaventura parish, Latacunga city, which presents the evaluation of the use of 2 levels of Peruvian Feather Grass flour as a replacement of a carbohydrate source in the broiler chickens feeding. In this study, 96 broiler chickens of the Cobb 500-line, one day old, with an average weight of 59.41g, were used. These were randomly distributed in 3 groups of 32 birds each and 4 replicates per group: T0 (base diet - control treatment), T1 (base diet + 2% Peruvian Feather Grass flour), T2 (base diet + 4% Peruvian Feather Grass flour). Bromatological, microbiological and physical characterization of the Peruvian Feather Grass flour was carried out to verify its composition and properties. This research lasted 56 days and data on daily weight and consumption were collected weekly for subsequent analysis. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and a 5% Duncan test were performed to differentiate between treatments. The results showed significant statistical differences (P<0.01) and (P<0.05) between treatments, with the best result in final weight and weight gain being T2 (4% of Peruvian Feather Grass flour). With respect to the profit /cost index, the best treatment with the highest profitability was T2 (4% of Peruvian Feather Grass flour) with 1.13 UDS for each dollar invested, a net benefit of 0.13 USD was obtained, that is, this feed helps a little to reduce the cost rate in relation to the corn price.
