Тойм:This research study was developed at ‘La Vaquería’ farm, which is located in Quero, Tungurahua Province, limited to the Northwest with Mocha and Cevallos Cantons, to the South with Chimborazo Province, to the East with Pelileo, a Canton, at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level with an Andean weather of 15 °C average. The main objective was to determine the quality of pasture regarding the animal load through the analysis and by knowing what its nutrients are. Therefore, a proximal bromatological examination was carried out which helps to collect the percentages of ash, protein, fiber and mineral to recognize the percentages of calcium, magnesium, manganese, sodium and potassium. In the animals’ registry in that 4.23- hectare farm, there are 13 cows in production, 3 cows that are not in milk production, and one bull stallion. In this farm cows are milked two times a day at 12-hour intervals, it has an average of 135 liters of milk per day, equivalent to an average of 10.38 liters, with an average weight gain of 4.74 kg. Regarding the potential consumption of animals and the energy per kg of grass is 1.9; the supply is 25.80g of energy, according to the calculation made of the energy requirement, production, weight gain and supply that gives the grass. The animals’ consumption of the energy balance is negative. It means that the animals are losing body condition, because these studied grasses show a large amount of protein which cannot be synthesized due to the little energy that grass provides. It is recommended to look for high altitude pastures on the farm in order to perform a fast rotation to maximize the number of kg /DM/ grazing, thus improving the feeding of the animals and even increasing the animal load in a medium-term.
