Zusammenfassung:Education is one of the factors that most influences the progress of society. For that reason, it is essential that the teaching-learning process to be focused on the student and on the different realities that he or she goes through, thus considering the geographical situation, the type of house, the educational level of the parents, among other elements that directly affect the biological, psychological and educational development of the child. The students of the "Félix Valencia" Educational Unit reflect several needs such as lack of basic services, absence of a father figure, low economic level, their parents don’t have a living wage due to the deficit of academic instruction, among other problems that are part of the social dimension and affect the teaching-learning process. The objective of the following research was to determine the elements of the social dimension in the teaching-learning process through the life history in order to reach the academic improvement of the students of the "Félix Valencia" Educational Unit. The methodology used is based on qualitative research that allows interpreting the socio-educational context throughout field work, which grant researchers to relate and interact directly with the actors of the educational community, which collects information through previously validated interview guide instruments. In addition, biographical narration was applied for the construction of a life history. This lets reflecting on the social dimension in the teaching-learning process so that students feel more confident and supported by their teachers because they will understand the effects of their socioeconomic condition on the children. In this way, it will be possible to improve the quality of education. This project is aimed at sensitizing teachers to the effects on the teaching-learning process of the elements that make up the social dimension, such as the level of education of their parents, their occupation, place of work and the basic services that students have. Also, to prioritize the individual differences of students in order to understand their social and family environment.
