Beskrivelse
Summary:The present study aimed to estimate the organic carbon content in the soil of the Pastocalle’s moorland, in an area of 1008 km2. Currently, there is not enough information on the organic carbon content in soils (COS) of the moorlands. To estimate the COS in the study area, the research was divided into 3 stages: field sampling, laboratory analysis with its respective protocol and geo statistical analysis. Twenty soil samples were obtained that were subjected to the calcination process by the Walkley and Black Method (1934). For the percentage of Organic Matter (OM) and the relationship that exists with the percentage of organic carbon, the Van Belmeth conversion factor (1.72) was used. The data obtained were geo statistically interpolated from the KRIGING method. As a result of the investigation, the following data were obtained: carbon percentage range from 0.82 to 10.19% of Organic Carbon (OC), which corresponds to an average of 8.87% of the total soil weight of the moorland analyzed. Finally, from the calculation of the density, an estimated of 1.15 ton / Ha at 30 cm depth was obtained. These data reflect that there are low amounts of organic carbon in the Pastocalle moorland.
