| Sammanfattning: | The present research work was carried out in the wholesale market of Latacunga Canton, where different types of commercial activities are presented on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, considering the problems that affect the world and the canton, such as inadequate management and the increase of solid waste. The methodology to be used is a bibliographic review of the study area and surveys to verify the current situation of the market in terms of solid waste management from its origin, storage, collection, handling, transportation, and final disposal. Afterwards, the characterization of solid waste will be carried out using the method of quartering and the collection of information on Tuesdays and Saturdays to determine the amount and types of waste generated in the market. In each of the eco garbage cans set up in the market, approximately eight solid wastes generated by the traders were characterized, using the quartering method, the following wastes were identified: organic matter, plastic, paper and cardboard, glass, wood, cloth, leather, among others, and then their respective weights. The PPC obtained during the 8 days of sampling in the wholesale market of Latacunga is 1.53 kg/day vendor, these results were collected with the objective of designing a management system to take advantage of solid waste from the market. |
