In addition, the amount of available manure of 158 kg of Kg/day of the farm was obtained. A simple sampling was also carried out analyzing physical, chemical and microbiological parameters of the waste water that enters and leaves the biodigestor for the use of water for irrigation. The results of the physical, chemical and microbiological characterization of the wastewater, without treatment and after the treatment were compared with Ecuadorian regulations, the same indicate that the samples analyzed under the parameters of Electrical Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids and Hydrogen Potential were are within the allowable limits at the two monitoring points, while Total Nitrogen, Biochemical Oxygen Demand and fecal coliforms exceed permissible limits. Through these results a proposal has been made with alternatives to optimize the operation of the current biodigester, avoiding the excessive accumulation of manure and minimizing the use of excessive water use during the cleaning operations of the pens and the farm in general. Key Words: Biodigestor, environmental variables, wastewater, optimize.En la investigación el objetivo principal fue la determinación de la eficiencia y funcionamiento del biodigestor anaeróbico de flujo continuo para el tratamiento de los residuos en la "Granja Porcina Carlitos", ubicada en la Provincia de Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas. Se realizó la evaluación de variables ambientales de un biodigestor anaerobio tipo continuo, alimentado con estiércol de ganado porcino y agua. Además se obtuvo la cantidad de estiércol disponible de 158,5 Kg de EP/día de la granja. También se efectuó un muestreo simple analizando parámetros físicos, químicos y microbiológicos de las aguas residuales que ingresan y salen del biodigestor para el uso de agua para riego. .Los resultados de la caracterización físico, química y microbiológica de las aguas residuales, sin tratamiento y después del tratamiento fueron comparados con normativa Ecuatoriana, indican que las muestras analizadas bajo los parámetros de Conductividad Eléctrica, Solidos Totales Disueltos y Potencial de hidrógeno se encuentran dentro de los límites permisibles en los dos puntos de monitoreo, mientras que Nitrógeno Total, Demanda Bioquímica de Oxigeno y coliformes fecales sobrepasan los límites permisibles. A través de estos resultados se ha realizado una propuesta con alternativas para la optimización del funcionamiento del biodigestor actual evitando la acumulación excesiva de estiércol y minimizando el uso el excesivo uso de agua durante las operaciones de limpieza de los corrales y la granja en general.
