Summary:In recent years, poultry farming has been characterized in Latin American countries by establishing large poultry companies, although it has experienced difficulties, issues affecting the sector have been developed, such as the use of antibiotics for the growth of birds. However, there are also many achievements and successes, such as the production of around 15,000 million chickens per year. (Alltech, 2013) In Ecuador, the poultry sector represents one of the most important activities in livestock activity, reaching 57% of livestock GDP. In addition, this sector contributes with about 70% of animal protein consumed by the national population in the form of meat and eggs. (Taipe. V, Leòn.V, 2007) In the first National Poultry Census, a population of 167 million birds was determined for 2007; of which 157 million are broilers (93%), 8.5 million laying. The National Poultry Corporation of Ecuador), the poultry sector is one of the sectors with the greatest growth potential and is the field of research, such as the use of additives in animal feed for different purposes in the production of birds.
