Achoimre:Caviculture production represents a very important component at the level of the agricultural economy, it is linked to the socioeconomic development of small producers, for whom farming and production represents one of the alternatives of sustainability and economic stability, which is why it is necessary to contribute to the genetic improvement. This research project aims to evaluate feed conversion in guinea pigs in the growth stage with a fourth progeny of genetic crossing of the absorbent type, by means of this determination the animals destined for commercialization or for the improvement will be selected at CEASA Work is being carried out on the implementation of registries for absorbent crosses with two progeny already evaluated for genetic improvement, for which reason there is interest in monitoring the project since it encourages the livestock development of this species. For this reason, what justifies carrying out this research is to determine the feed conversion in bay and white guinea pigs of a fourth absorbent crossing, improving the adaptation, the handling and the quality of the animals through the feed to be supplied, which will provide energy that is essential for the organism; In addition, it will be possible to obtain from two animal samples that when supplying food they will obtain greater muscle mass and animals that lost weight or did not gain weight will be discarded and when selecting animals, improved offspring will be obtained in development, growth and fattening, since the selection of animals is an alternative to improve the production of guinea pigs; It will also support producers and this activity would increase since very few practice it in Cotopaxi and small producers look at it as a self-consumption animal and not for high-scale production in order to cover the demand for this product. This research will identify their adaptation in the productive environment of our communities, the same that will have a link with research centers to achieve an exchange of knowledge and disseminate information to students, teachers, researchers and people linked to cavicola production
