This research was developed in the Anchilivi neighborhood, Salcedo canton, Cotopaxi province with the aim by assesing the eight varieties adaptation from zucchini (Cucurbita pepo L.), being the varieties: T1 (SC 250), T2 (SC 331), T3 (SC 419), T4 (SC 634), T3 (SC 419), T4 (SC 634), T4 (SC 634) and T...

Descripció
Sumari:This research was developed in the Anchilivi neighborhood, Salcedo canton, Cotopaxi province with the aim by assesing the eight varieties adaptation from zucchini (Cucurbita pepo L.), being the varieties: T1 (SC 250), T2 (SC 331), T3 (SC 419), T4 (SC 634), T3 (SC 419), T4 (SC 634), T4 (SC 634) and T5 (SC 634), T3 (SC 419), T4 (SC 634), T5 (SC 635), T6 (Black Beauty), T7 (Yasmin), T8 (SC 514), they were established eight treatments in three repetitions with a total 24 experimental units, in a total area 640 m2, it was used a completely randomized block design (DBCA), it was performed a variance (ADEVA) analysis of the variables for determining statistical significance. They recorded quantitative variables (plant height: days by flowering; days to harvest; fruits number per plant: fruit length; fruit diameter; fruit weight) and qualitative variables (fruit shape, fruit color, resistance to pests and diseases). The variety, what best adapted to the area and which recorded the greatest agronomic characteristics was T6 (Black Beauty) at the height variable (48.88 cm); fruit length (23.77 cm); fruit diameter (5.8 cm); resistance to pests and diseases (1: no symptoms); weight (416.59 g) and yield (33,25 kg/m2), with 62 days to be harvested, to comparison to T8 (SC 514), which presented a better response in flowering days (21); harvest days (49) and a total 11 commercial fruits per plant. It was determined that T6 (Black Beauty) is more efficient, because it has better agronomic characteristics and by the cost analysis presented a higher cost/benefit ratio (2.04), so it is recommended to grow the Black Beauty variety for a wide production in the Anchilivi area, Cantón Salcedo.
