Description
Summary:This research is focused on the characterization of hematological and biochemical profiles of the Ecuadorian Creole donkey in Cotopaxi province through the analysis of laboratory tests in blood in which it was evaluated blood values over representative in 30 adult donkeys from an age range between 15 to 25 years in rural areas of greater concentration of this province. Cotopaxi province is 2750 meters above sea level. It occupies a territory about 6.569 km²; it has a temperature between 9 to 13 degrees and records a 522-2677 mm average rainfall. A clinical check-up was performed in each donkey, and collected blood by venipuncture jugular in Vacutainer tubes of 4 ml red top and purple. The samples were processed in the veterinary laboratory in San Francisco. Analysis of results used statistical program Info Stat by ADEVA establishing proof of Tukey 5% factor sex with a reliability level of 95%. The average values determined the white series, red and plasma proteins showed variability but they are within the normal range according to the literature. The values according to sex except for platelets and lymphocytes statistically have no significance although the environmental and food environment have a considerable influence between males and females. These data in the future can be used for diagnostic, monitoring and control of diseases in this specie.
