Summary:The study of a simulation model for the optimization of transport routes seeks to optimize the daily route of the urban collection vehicles in the Latacunga city (Eastern and Western Route) whose company is responsible for the process is “EPAGAL”. With the purpose of reducing the distance and the total time traveled daily, it is sought to minimize the operational costs of fuel during the collection from its departure and return to the base. The simulation for the optimization of the transport routes of the information source is based on the analysis of the activities that contribute to the improvement and redistribution of the routes through the analysis of the transport method based on linear road networks that are located in the Software (ARCGIS 10.5). Through its extensions like ArcMap; ArcCatalog; Network analyst, new vehicles routing problem that allow the modeling of transport networks, simulating a road system in a given area with their respective traffic restrictions. Where each one of the time’s data and distances that the garbage collection vehicle is made, it can be interpreted in a matrix to find the result that a series of alternatives and new routes oriented towards the solution and the improvement of the collection of garbage through simulation in Eastern and Western routes. Finally, a procedure is carried out for the collection routes according to the parameters of the speed of the collection vehicle, the type of roads, the length of the roads, the time of data collection, also demonstrating the application of this software for the redesign It has a great advantage, to perform simulations according to different parameters.
