Sumario:This work is carried out in response to the needs of millions of people who do not have electricity service, which is part of modern life and an indicator of quality of life. And for this, the potential of non-conventional energy sources for the production of electrical energy is evaluated. A place as a case study has been previously selected for lacking public service and being far from the electrical supply networks run by electric companies: the community of Zumbahua in the Province of Cotopaxi, Ecuador. The thesis reviews the physical principles that allow the use of energy from the Sun and contained in the mass of moving air that we know as wind. In addition, data collection has been done every hour for 21 years of solar irradiation, environmental temperature, wind speed and direction of the place to be studied, with this; The valuation of the energy potential per year and square meter of solar photovoltaic and wind energy has been carried out. As results we have that both are potentially feasible to use, however, photovoltaic solar energy provides a greater amount of energy during the year. Finally, mathematical models for the physical implementation of a microgrid are proposed as annexes, which leaves future research work open.
