| Summary: | This research was carried out in the Salache neighborhood of the experimental campus of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources of the Technical University of Cotopaxi, Eloy Alfaro parish, Latacunga canton, in the presence of extensive periods of drought in the area, production alternatives were sought, for this reason the UTC and INIAP are evaluating three production technologies (conventional farmer, INIAP and plastic mulch), in the cultivation of maize (Zea mays. L), variety CHULPI INIAP -193, for which a statistical analysis (DBCA) of completely randomized block design and tukey test at 0.05% was applied. The variables evaluated were: days of emergence, plant height, days of female flowering, weight of ears in dry state with leaves and without leaves. The results obtained were that the mulching technology showed the best results with days to emergence of 8 days, plant height of 220. 85 cm, days to female flowering of 130 days and of cobs in dry state with leaves of 0.47 and without leaves of 0.40 g, followed by the technology recommended by INIAP with results of days to emergence of 11 days, plant height of 191.2 cm, days to female flowering of 131 days and of cobs in dry state with leaves of 0, 35 and without leaves of 0.30 g, outperforming the conventional production of farmers in the area with results of days to emergence of 13 days, plant height of 174.95 cm, days to female flowering of 132 days and cobs in dry state with leaves of 0, 28 and without leaves of 0.22 g. It is concluded that the plastic mulch technology outperforms in all the variables analyses except days to flowering. |
