总结:The Andean fox (Lycalopex culpaeus) is a carnivorous mammal of Canidae family that inhabits at Ecuador moorlands. It is an important specie for the Andean ecosystem, hence it helps to maintain ecosystem balance, controlling rodent populations and other small mammal among other febefits tha this species provide. Therefore was carried out in Pastocalle parish in three areas of Ilinizas Ecological Reserve, Hacienda Francisco Morales, and Cerón (Eagle's Nest) because currently there is little information and neglect of this species causing that in Ecuador it is considered as a vulnerable specie according to the Red Book. The purpose of the study was to know population density starting by recognition place, applying direct observation method and locating transects divided into quadrants that allowed delimiting and identifying different signs of presence such as hair, footprints, feces, detritus and other study objects to determine different activities of the specimen in these areas, added to variables such as altitude and relative humidity. The Andean fox is found at a minimum altitude of 3550 and a maximum of 4103 meters above sea level. It was also estimated that population density is 0.735 in the studied área, confirming that it is presence according to the evidence, however this animal is only passing through for activities such as hunting, obtaining food provided by tourists who visit the area and obtaining water from area springs. Finally, the exact points where presence of the habitat was found. Accordingly, it was found that Andean fox (Lycalopex culpaeus) is threatened by three anthropogenic factors present in the highlans Pastocalle, such as the agricultural frontier, cattle ranching and mining.
