Summary:The main objective of this research is to propose manufacturing process standardization of school desks according established guidelines by technical standard INEN 2583, specifically in INMECH company. Due to the lack of defined activities and lack knowledge of requirements and specifications of the standard, prolonged and unforeseen interruptions are generated at manufacturing process. The main purpose of this study is to create a uniform and standardized process to eliminate interruptions and improve desks efficiency production. This work starts from the survey of production process, data collection, relationship of the standard with manufacturing process and finally requirements standardization and specifications on school desk number 5 for 1st to 3rd grade for 16 to 18 years old. By exploring in detail production process and data collection, an in-depth understanding of involved activities in desk manufacture, as well as pertinent details about the company, is gained. By relating this production process to defined parameters in INEN 2583 technical standard, a clear perspective on compliance degree compliance with regulatory guidelines is obtained. This translates into a compliance level of 70% in requirements terms, 81% in relation to materials, 33% in nominal thickness and a total compliance lack in dimensions. As a final step, a standardization was carried out focusing on non-compliance areas, in order to propose a product that integrates all necessary aspects to offer society a quality product. To conclude, it can be stated that, after carrying out a complete analysis of the production process and detailed collection of information, together with a solid compliance with INEN 2583 technical standard.
