“Evaluación de implantes (zeranol) en sistemas de bovinos mestizos de engorde en Cotopaxi.”

The present research was carried out in the Potrerillos farm, which is located in Belisario Quevedo parish, Latacunga canton, Cotopaxi province, whose geographical location is -0.966667 of latitude and -78.5667 of longitude, with an altitude of 2680-3960 meters above sea level. The livestock herd to study is composed of 40 animals, classified into two groups of which 20 of them were subjected to the application of the zeranol implant and the other 20 test animals, it was started by taking four weights simultaneously with an interval of 10 days and the lifting of a file to evaluate the weight intake of the animals with zeranol and without the application, the purpose of this project is to verify that the use of Zeranol implants gives a positive response to the increase in muscle mass in growing mixed-breed beef cattle, where the weight gain was evaluated, finding a significant difference of (0.0001) Regarding the daily weight gain, improving the general feed conversion there is a statistical difference according to the ´p value of 0.0007, without altering the feed consumption, for which the use of the progestogens Zeranol is recommended in bovines, due to their low toxicity and residual effect on the growth rate of the animals to increase the body development of the bulls prior to slaughter and obtain the best physiological responses. In the reproductive parameters, the evaluation was that there is no development of the testicular contour and length because there is atrophy in the lading cells. The results were exposed to the residents of the surroundings to become aware that an animal that works well with the help of the Zeranol implant can cause cost-benefit in a positive way.
