Resumo:This research aimed at carrying out the Air Quality Assessment by monitoring the PM10 and PM2.5 particulate matter in the urban center of the Saquisilí canton, Cotopaxi Province, 2019 – 2020 period. This research aimed to evaluate the concentration of PM10, and PM2.5 particulate matter generated by anthropogenic sources in the urban center of the Saquisilí Canton began with the characterization of the study area where the strategic points of the Ecuadorean Current Regulations were identified as well as the International Standard EPA 40 CFR Appendix E_to_part_58, to carry out monitoring of particulate matter PM10 and PM2.5; in the monitoring stage, the E-BAM model beta attenuation monitoring equipment was used for 24 hours using the automatic method, the samples were recorded every 15 minutes with a real-time data log. The data analysis was exported using the COMET software and an Excel sheet, then the results were compared with the Regulations of the Ministerial Agreement 097-A Reform of the Unified Text of Secondary Legislation of the Ministry of the Environment (TULSMA) Book VI Annex 4, where it sets the permissible limits for PM10 to 100 μg/m3and PM2.5 is 50 μg/m3. The results obtained in the monitoring at "Unión Panamericana" Neighborhood are into the permissible limits; however, there are high concentrations of 150 μg/m3for PM10 at 4:00 p.m. and 44 μg/m3of PM2.5 at 6:00 p.m., located in the Union Panamericana neighborhood; and at "El Calvario" Neighborhood there are high concentration of 50 μg/m3at 1:00 p.m. and 56 μg/m3at 5:00 p.m. of PM10 and 36 μg/m3 PM2.5 at 9:00 p.m. Based on this data, mitigation proposals were submitted.
