| Summary: | The objective of the research project was to determine the prevalence of infectious and parasitic diseases present in cattle in the Province of Cotopaxi in the period 2010-2015. To this end, a scientific review was carried out on the number of cases and the total population of cattle of the province in each year, the data obtained were tabulated for a real diagnosis of the annual prevalence of diseases resulting in that in the year 2010, FMD had a higher prevalence with (0.0243), followed by brucellosis (0.0098), IBR (0.0078), tuberculosis (0.0067), DVB (0.0031), leucosis (0.0026), while leptospirosis was the one with the lowest prevalence 0.0016). From 2011 to 2015, the prevalence of foot-and-mouth disease was zero, and in 2016 the country declares itself free from this disease, while leptospirosis was the most prevalent (0.1144) in 2011, followed by brucellosis with (0.0544), IBR (0.0295), DVB (0.0202), tuberculosis (0.0192), and leukosis was the lowest prevalence (0.0181). From 2012 to 2015, there is no prevalence of leptospirosis in the province, whereas enzootic bovine leukosis is the most prevalent (0.1211) in 2012, followed by IBR (0.0865), DVB (0.0818), Brucellosis ( 0.0041), tuberculosis (0.0016), paratuberculosis is present this year, although it was the one with the lowest prevalence (0.0005). In the year 2013, leukosis was the most prevalent disease (0.0668), followed by DVB (0.0507), IBR (0.0357), tuberculosis (0.0067), and brucellosis was the lowest prevalence (0.0005). In 2014, brucellosis had a higher prevalence (0.1153), followed by IBR (0.0413), leucosis (0.0274), DVB (0.0117), and paratuberculosis was the disease with the lowest prevalence (0.0004), while the prevalence of Tuberculosis was null this year. In the year 2015, brucellosis was the disease with the highest prevalence (0.1221), followed by IBR (0.0400), leucosis (0.0230), DVB (0.0092), while paratuberculosis was the disease with the lowest prevalence (0.0009). The low prevalence of bovine paratuberculosis in animals makes it possible to eradicate the herd, whereas brucellosis and IBR are diseases of sanitary irrigation |
