Evaluación del crecimiento dasométrico y características cualitativas de cinco procedencias de Tectona grandis L. F: (teca) en el cantón Quevedo.

It was carried out an evaluation of dasometric growth and cualitative characteristics of five Tectona grandis L. F. (teak) provenances: Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 1, Pilangosta wide Leaf Guanacaste Lot 2, Santa Cruz Guanacaste Lot 059/966, Parrita Quepos Puntarenas and Quevedo, Los Rios province. The provenances or treatments were established in January 2000, under a design of blocks at random with three repetitions; with a spacing of 3 x 3 meters. The dasometric variables studied were total height, diameter, basal area and volume; it was also evaluated, stem rightness, diameter of branches, angle of branches insert, survival and genetic gain. To the four years of age, there were no significant statistical differences in total height, diameter, basal area and volume (Tuckey, p≤0,05). The provenances Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 1, Parrita Quepos Puntarenas and Santa Cruz Guanacaste Lot 059/966 had perfectly right trees or 4 category with 10,0; 7,1 and 4,3% in its order; in the category 3 (right tree, with a light twist) the biggest number of trees was presented in the provenances Parrita Quepos Puntarenas, Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 2 and Santa Cruz Guanacaste Lot 059/966, with .6; 34,8 and 31,9 %, respectively. The provenances Quevedo, Los Ríos province, Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 2 and Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 1 had the biggest percentage of trees with branches diameter of category 5 (very inferior to the average or good) with 10,4; 8,7 and 7,1 % in its order; while in the category 4 (moderately inferior to the average) the biggest number of trees was presented in the origins Santa Cruz Guanacaste Lot 059/966, Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 2 and Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 1 with 39,1; 36,2 and 34,3 %, respectively. The provenances Quevedo Los Ríos province, Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 1 and Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 2 had the biggest percentage of trees with angle of branches insert of category 5 (very near angle to similar to 90º or ideal) with 22,9; 21,4 and 20,3 % in its order; in the category 4 (near angle at 90º) the biggest number of trees had place was found in the provenances Parrita Quepos Puntarenas, Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 1 and Quevedo, county of The Rivers, with 59,7; 57,1 and 55,7 %, respectively. The survival was between 98,7 % in the provenances Santa Cruz Guanacaste Lot 059/966, Parrita Quepos Puntarenas, Quevedo Los Ríos province and 100 % in Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 1 and Pilangosta Hoja Ancha Guanacaste Lot 2.
