Özet:The study took place at the Finca Experimental La María of Universidad Técnica Estatal Quevedo. The objective was to assess the response of two corn hybrids grown in the dry season to four planting densities derived from diferent planting spacings. Corn benefited only from moisture leftstored in the soil after the raining season was over; no irigation was provided. Field work cover the period June-October. Hibryds Somma and Tropi 101 were planted at 83333, 55555, 62500 y 41666 pl/ha. The combination of the two hybrids and four densities produced eight treatments. These were field-distributed according to a Random Complete Block Design in a factorial arrangement. Following variables were measured to carry out the assessment; plant height, number of days to flowering both male and female, cob length, cob diameter, number of kernel rows, 1000 kernel-weight and corn yield. The results showed that the number of days at male and female flowering were similar for both hybrids. Tropi 101 yielded more than Somma showing a difference in yield, the same one that obtained the best performance of 0.17 Kg more per useful plot and in yield of Kg / ha with 3925.83 to more than one difference to the Somma hybrid of 81.72 Kg / ha. Apparently both used the remaining moisture of the soil with more efficiency planted at the highest density because with this density they reached the highest yields. The Hybrid Somma combined with the highest planting density showed the best return for every dollar invested reflected in a B/C of 1.16. Keywords: humidity; remainder; density; population performance.
