| 總結: | The defoliation worm (Dione juno juno) is one of the most important pests of passion fruit cultivation in the area of Quevedo. The present research aimed to determine the life cycle and behavior of the defoliation worm (Dione juno juno), as a fundamental basis for the development and establishment of a management program of this pest in the cultivation of passion fruit. To start the work, larvae of the defoliation worm were collected in the field and taken to the microbiology laboratory of Quevedo State Technical University, conditioned in plastic containers with fresh leaves of passion fruit, until they complete their development. With the obtaining of the eggs began the study of the life cycle and the behavior of this insect. Different types of plastic containers and entomological cages were used to manage the different biological stages. The main results showed that the duration of the biological cycle of Dione juno juno varies between male and female specimens ranging from 46 to 52 days for The male and between 49 and 55 days for the female. The eggs are placed in rows or small groups, and hatch after 6 to 7 days of oviposition. The larval stage is divided into five instars, characterized by a change of tonality from clear to darker as time progresses, and likewise their eating habits are more voracious. When the larvae are pre-empupar they begin to form threads of silk on the underside of the leaf in the manner of a spider's web in order to stay on the leaf and facilitate its movement. The pupal state can last between 10 to 12 days. The size of male pupae varies between 2.2 and 2.4 cm; While the female pupae measured between 2.3 and 2.6 cm. In the adult state, the female specimens reached measures between 2.1 and 2.7 cm; While males are smaller, measuring between 1.3 and 1.7 cm. After three days of leaving the pupa, the adults reach their sexual maturity, and initiate the mating that lasts an hour. Two days after mating, the female begins to oviposit, being more fertile the first day, decreasing the number of eggs that she puts per day until the third day, placing a total of 190 to 237 eggs during the period of oviposition. |
