Označite | Izvleček: | This study was undertaken between November and December 2012 of the streams Estero Valencia, Estero El Muerto and Estero Aguas Blancas, located in Cantón Valencia, Los Ríos Province. The principal objective of the study was to evaluate the water quality of these streams using biomonitoring protocols. Macroinvertebrates were collected from two points on each of the three streams using a “D net” from which individuals were separated and transported to the laboratory for identification to order and family. Water quality was calculated using the indices BMSP-Cr and the IBF-Sv-2010 for all three streams. At the time of obtaining the results the water samples were analyzed for pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, total dissolved, solids, and temperature to identify the macroinverbrates. According to the results of the collection of Insects, Odonata order and Gastropoda were the most representative in the estuary Valencia. Moreover, the order Diptera, Odonata and Gastropoda appear more number of individuals in the estuary Aguas Blancas. Meanwhile Ephemeroptera was the highest percentage in the estuary The Dead. According to the determination of water quality application-Sv IBF index, determined that for the estuary "Valencia" receives a rating of "Fair-poor", with the degree of contamination "Likely significant contamination" while both the estuary "Aguas Blancas" a rating of "Poor", with the degree of contamination "Probable considerable pollution" and the estuary "the Dead" from "Regula-poor", with the degree of contamination "Likely significant pollution". For index-Cr BMWP the estuary "Valencia", receives a rating of "poor quality waters, heavily polluted" the creek "Aguas Blancas" a rating of "poor quality waters, heavily polluted", and to the estuary "The Dead" from "poor quality waters, heavily polluted". |
