Sammanfattning:The project entitled "Artificial intelligence as a supply chain optimization tool for cocoa bean (Theobroma Cacao L.) exporters, 2023" investigated and analyzed the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the optimization of the supply chain of cocoa exporters in the Buena Fe canton. With three specific objectives, the study sought to analyze the current situation, identify applicable AI technologies, and define feasible areas for optimization with AI. Through a mixed approach involving surveys, data analysis and literature review, outstanding results were obtained. Opportunities for improvement such as inconsistent grain quality, traceability deficiencies and lack of good agricultural practices were identified. Subsequently, applicable AI technologies such as machine learning, computer vision, blockchain and expert systems were mapped. The findings showed that AI can contribute significantly in crop management (drone monitoring, pest detection), traceability (blockchain, quality verification), logistics (route optimization, demand prediction) and customer service (chatbots, opinion mining). Significant potential benefits were identified, such as increased productivity, full chain traceability, cost reduction and personalized customer service. However, the study acknowledged challenges associated with the lack of adequate infrastructure and staff training, but supported that, despite these challenges, the adoption of AI solutions can drive substantial improvements in productivity, efficiency, quality and sustainability of the entire cocoa value chain in the context of the traders and exporters analyzed.
